Job Purpose:
As a Poolside Supervisor, you lead and support the lifeguard team to deliver a safe, calm and well-managed poolside environment. You are accountable for day‑to‑day pool safety, lifeguard performance and compliance, while also helping create a poolside environment where members feel safe, comfortable and confident. Working closely with the Club Experience Manager and wider leadership team, you set clear standards, develop your team and support continuous improvement in how our pool environments feel and operate.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Poolside Safety & Compliance
- Take ownership of safety standards and operational compliance in all pool areas.
- Ensure the highest standards of lifeguarding, supervision and safety are maintained at all times.
- Oversee compliance with all relevant pool safety, health & safety and safeguarding requirements.
- Support completion of required safety checks, testing and documentation in line with procedures.
- Respond confidently and decisively in response to incidents, ensuring appropriate escalation and follow-up.
2. Team Leadership & Performance
- Build a confident, capable and engaged team of lifeguards.
- Lead and coordinate the lifeguard team during shifts, providing clear direction and support.
- Create a culture of trust, accountability and teamwork where people take pride in their role.
- Carry out regular check-ins, one-to-ones and supportive performance conversations.
- Support training, development and re-qualification to maintain high levels of capability and confidence.
3. Member Confidence & Poolside Presence
- Help ensure pool areas feel welcoming and calm for members of all ages and abilities.
- Be a visible, approachable presence on poolside, supporting members when they need it to help them feel at ease.
- Support a simple, non-intimidating experience for members of all ages and abilities, especially children and new swimmers.
- Identify opportunities to improve the poolside experience and share ideas with the Club Experience Manager.
- Use our AI agents to help answer member questions when appropriate and compliant with poolside safety requirements.
- Support your team to do the same, resolving enquiries wherever possible without passing them on unnecessarily.
4. Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
- Support improvements to poolside processes and ways of working.
- Gather feedback from team members and pool users to inform improvements.
- Work closely with the Club Experience Manager and other department leads to support a joined-up club operation.
- Support the day‑to‑day running of the club, including opening and closing the building where required.
What We’re Looking For:
- Current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
- Experience working as a lifeguard in a busy pool environment.
- Experience supporting or guiding others in a safety-critical setting, formally or informally.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Emergency First Aid Certificate, or willingness to complete the training. This role may also suit you if you bring Pool Plant Operator qualification.
- Previous experience supervising or leading lifeguard teams.
