The Role
We’re looking for a driven, commercially focused General Manager at David Weir Leisure Centre. This is a high-impact role overseeing a busy gym, athletics track, and fitness offering, where standards, service, and results matter.
You’ll take full ownership of performance: leading your team, driving membership growth, and ensuring the facility operates at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Performance
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable a small but high-performing team
- Set clear expectations around standards, sales, and member experience
- Create a culture of energy, professionalism, and ownership
- Accountable for the site profit & loss.
Commercial & Sales Focus
- Drive membership sales and retention through consistent delivery and new ideas
- Maximise secondary spend (PT, classes, retail/vending where applicable)
- Analyse KPIs and take action.
Operations & Standards
- Maintain exceptional facility standards across gym and athletics areas
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety and operational procedures
- Manage rotas, staffing levels, and day-to-day problem solving
Customer Experience
- Deliver a standout member journey from first visit to long-term retention
- Handle escalations professionally and decisively
- Build relationships with clubs, athletes, and the local community
Athletics & Programme Delivery
- Oversee track usage, bookings, and programming
- Work with clubs, schools, and partners to maximise utilisation
- Support performance and participation pathways
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience managing a gym, leisure centre, or similar facility
- Strong commercial mindset—you understand revenue, not just operations
- Confident leader who sets standards and follows through
- Comfortable working in a hands-on environment with a small team
- Passion for fitness, sport, and delivering real results

Pay: £37,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
