GLL is seeking a fantastic Nursery/Child & Family Practitioner to join our Children's Centres team on a term-time only basis.
As a Nursery/Child & Family Practitioner, you will contribute to providing a safe, stimulating, educational and fun environment for children and families. You will promote the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of children under five years of age through sensitive planning that responds to each child's individual needs, while encouraging their independence and development.
Working as part of a dedicated team of caring professionals who are committed to improving the lives of young children and supporting their families, you will help ensure that our Children's Centre services are welcoming, accessible and enjoyable for local families. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, along with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents and partner organisations.
What You'll Do
You could get the best of both worlds in this role. You may be invited to work within our childcare settings and/or work with our families as part of our children’s centre programme delivery.
Plan and deliver stimulating, creative and engaging Stay & Play sessions that support children's development, interests and individual needs.
Provide a broad and balanced indoor and outdoor learning environment in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Deliver safe, stimulating and creative crÿche sessions for children whose parents are attending Children's Centre courses and activities.
Take responsibility for children's wellbeing and learning in both indoor and outdoor environments, ensuring appropriate supervision at all times.
Build warm and supportive relationships with children and families that encourage learning, development and positive outcomes.
Support and value each child's home culture and language, including contributing to planning for children with English as an Additional Language (EAL).
Contribute to the provision of a secure, caring and inclusive environment that promotes equality, diversity and inclusion for children, parents, carers and families.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to support local families and deliver high-quality Children's Centre services.
What You'll Need
Essential Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, Child Development or an equivalent recognised qualification.
Essential Experience
Experience of working with children under five years of age and their families.
Experience of planning and delivering play-based learning opportunities informed by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Experience of supporting children's learning and development in a safe and nurturing environment.
Knowledge and Skills
Sound knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Understanding of safeguarding children, child protection procedures and professional responsibilities.
Knowledge of Ofsted requirements and Children's Centre frameworks.
Understanding of working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge of supporting disabled children and children with additional needs.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, guidance and best practice relating to services for young children and families.
Strong understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Positive, enthusiastic and flexible approach to supporting children and families.
