The Pickleball Coach role is responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive, and high-quality pickleball sessions for players of all ages and abilities. You will support the growth of pickleball across the city by leading structured coaching sessions, social play opportunities, and introductory activities designed to increase participation. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming and enjoyable environment where participants can develop their skills, meet others, and stay active through pickleball.
What you’ll do:
Arrive ahead of sessions to prepare courts, equipment, and coaching plans.
Deliver structured pickleball coaching sessions for beginners, improvers, and recreational players.
Lead social pickleball sessions, ensuring games are organised, inclusive, and enjoyable.
Welcome participants and introduce new players to the sport.
Explain pickleball rules, scoring systems, and gameplay techniques.
Organise games and rotations to maximise participation and court usage.
Adapt sessions to suit different abilities, experience levels and ages (juniors/adults/seniors).
Provide coaching feedback and encouragement to help players develop their skills.
Promote a friendly and social atmosphere that encourages repeat participation.
Ensure safe use of courts and equipment throughout the session.
Set up and pack down pickleball nets, paddles, balls, and court equipment.
Gather feedback from participants to help improve future sessions.
Support the promotion and growth of pickleball programmes within the centre/city.

What you need:
* Pickleball Level 1 qualification.
Experience delivering racket sport sessions (pickleball, tennis, badminton or similar, desirable).
Sports Activator Essentials training (if required by GLL).
Enhanced DBS check.
Safeguarding qualification.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Enthusiasm for developing players and growing participation in pickleball.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
