Overview
The hotel offers a peaceful and tranquil setting in the Hertfordshire countryside. The hotel boasts 80 bedrooms all comfortable and contemporarily styled and an onsite leisure club which includes a fitness suite, steam room, sauna and an indoor swimming pool as well as a beauty Spa. We also offer an 18 hole Championship Golf Course which is designed around the hotel and provides a challenging, yet enjoyable experience, regardless of handicap
We offer conference and banqueting facilities; catering for up to 400 guests, we can host all types of events; from weddings, training workshops, exhibitions to private dinners and balls.
The purpose of this role is to ensure that all aspects of the Golf Club runs to a high standard whilst aiming to increase golf membership, pay & plays and profitability.
Duties
- To manage and oversee the running of the Golf Club
- To promote and sell golf memberships working alongside our social media & sales team
- To promote and sell golf societies and corporate memberships
- Ensure the day-to-day food and beverage running of the Golf Club is done to a high standard.
- Promotions and current food and drink trends are kept up to date
- Arrange social evenings with the members such as a quiz night
- Plan and promote sporting events to be shown on the big screen
- Weekly drive rounds of the golf course with the head greenkeeper. Plan project work on the course. Push for course improvements
- Start to end recruitment with Greens team and F&B
- Regularly communicate with members
- Attend committee meetings
- Ensure handicaps and competitions are running smoothly
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the Changing rooms & Golf Club is kept on top of everything
- Development of the overall product
- Guest feedback. Analyze, respond and implement
- To be friendly, knowledgeable and assertive with both guests and colleagues.
- To ensure that all F&B service and storage areas are hygienically clean and aesthetically pleasing.
- To have a thorough knowledge of services and facilities available in the department and be able to make suggestions to guests.
- To ensure that the “Departments’ Standards of Procedures” are complete, up to date and read, understood and used by all department staff.
- To plan staffing levels cost effectively and work within set budgets.
- To be aware of, and comply with, statutory and company requirements regarding the work place such as health and safety, hygiene, fire prevention and licensing. To also be accountable for security in the department.
- To complete staff Rotas and plans for business
- Understand and comply with the company’s policy on health and safety.
- Carry out duties in a safe manner having regards for the health and safety and welfare of yourself, colleagues, guests and other persons in the hotel
- Thoroughly familiarize and comply with the company’s fire evacuation procedure, and understand your responsibilities within it
Experience
- Previous experience in a retail management role, preferably within the hospitality or sports industry.
- Strong background in guest services, demonstrating an ability to create positive customer interactions.
- Proven skills in managing a team effectively, fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a keen attention to detail.
- A passion for golf and knowledge of golf products is advantageous but not essential.
