Operations Manager Everyone Active – David Weir Leisure Centre
We are seeking a highly experienced, strategic, and hands-on Operations Manager to take operational leadership of David Weir Leisure Centre on behalf of Everyone Active.
This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving exceptional standards across health and safety, operational performance, customer experience, and team development. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the centre operates to the highest possible standards while creating a positive, high-performing culture throughout the facility.
About the Role
Health and safety will be at the absolute forefront of this role. The successful candidate will demonstrate an unwavering commitment to safe systems of work, regulatory compliance, and the promotion of a proactive safety culture throughout the centre.
Leading by example, the Operations Manager will ensure that safety standards are fully embedded into daily operations, team behaviours, and decision-making processes, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for both customers and colleagues.
Alongside this, the Operations Manager will provide strong, visible leadership to the operational teams, creating a culture built on accountability, engagement, professionalism, and continuous improvement. The role requires someone capable of developing high-performing management and operational teams who consistently deliver outstanding service, support one another, and take pride in their contribution.
This role requires a confident and experienced individual who can balance strategic oversight with a practical, hands-on approach — someone capable of responding effectively to operational challenges while maintaining a long-term focus on standards, people development, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the leisure centre, ensuring consistently high standards across all departments
- Champion a strong health and safety culture, ensuring full compliance with company procedures and statutory regulations
- Conduct regular operational audits, risk assessments, and safety reviews
- Lead, motivate, and develop operational and management teams to achieve outstanding performance
- Drive exceptional customer service standards and continuously improve the customer experience
- Monitor operational performance, KPIs, staffing levels, and service delivery standards
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and succession planning across operational teams
- Manage and respond effectively to operational incidents, emergencies, and customer feedback
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership to deliver business objectives and growth
- Ensure the facility maintains high presentation, cleanliness, and operational standards at all times
- Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
The Successful Candidate Will Have
- Significant operational management experience within the leisure, hospitality, fitness, or service sector
- A proven track record of leading high-performing teams in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation and operational compliance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills
- The ability to influence, motivate, and develop teams effectively
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
- A hands-on leadership style with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- A passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences and operational excellence
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (desirable)
- Pool Plant Operator Qualification (desirable)
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification (desirable)
