Summary
We are seeking a friendly and energetic Casual Recreation Assistant/Lifeguard to join our team at our community leisure centers in Stevenage. This role is vital in delivering excellent recreational services and ensuring a safe environment for our members. Based at Stevenage Swimming Centre , you will contribute to our mission of making physical activity accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Responsibilities
- Supervise swimming pools and recreational areas to ensure safety and compliance with health regulations.
- Assist members with their activities, providing excellent guest services.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the facilities.
- Support the management team in organizing recreational programs and activities.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and provide first aid when necessary.
- Promote a positive environment that encourages community participation.
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and correctly.
- Support the delivery of swimming lessons and other fitness classes as needed.
- Qualifications
- Lifeguard qualification (e.g., RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification or equivalent).
- Strong communication skills and a friendly attitude.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends.
- Experience in hospitality or guest services is desirable.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to leisure facilities.
- Previous experience working with diverse community groups is a plus.
- Management skills are beneficial but not essential.
- Enthusiasm for promoting active lifestyles.

Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
