Portsmouth Golf Course is one of Hampshire's busiest golf venues with an 18-hole course boasting fantastic views over The Solent. We also have a clubhouse which is home to our Bar & Restaurant area.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Deputy Head Greenkeeper to join our team. The role would suit someone with established greenkeeping experience who is looking to join a forward thinking, supportive team. You will contribute towards the management of the golf course and have aligned responsibilities.
This is a full time position and due to the nature of the role, you must be available to work early starts and some weekend cover.
Duties
Deputising for the Head Greenkeeper in their absence.
Preparation and maintenance of our 18-hole course, practice areas, workshops and general amenity areas.
Assisting with leading and motivating the team with clarity and consistency.
Support in coordinating the maintenance of machinery/equipment/irrigation and service contracts.
Joint planning and decision-making on daily operations and long term strategy.
Delivering high-quality playing surfaces across all areas.
Assisting with managing the machine/equipment/buggy fleet to ensure all equipment is correctly maintained and serviced.
Hands-on involvement in mowing, spraying, irrigation and renovation works.
Coordinating machinery care and safe systems of work.
Help train, develop and motivate staff to continuously develop their technical skills.
Health and Safety management.
To undertake other duties that may be reasonably required.

Preferred qualifications
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Sports Turf Maintenance.
Chemical Spraying qualifications are preferred.
Chainsaw qualifications preferred but not essential.
Knowledge of the use and maintenance of modern greenkeeping machinery.
Knowledge of automated irrigation systems.
Knowledge of all health and safety legislation relating to greenkeeping equipment and also chemical and waste handling.
