Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Recreation Assistant to join our team in supporting the well-being of seniors and individuals with disabilities. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to lead recreational activities, foster social engagement, and contribute to a vibrant community environment. Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging recreational activities tailored for seniors and individuals with memory care needs, including those with Alzheimer's and dementia.
- Assist residents with daily living activities (ADLs), promoting independence and dignity while providing compassionate support.
- Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic programs that encourage social interaction and physical activity.
- Collaborate with care staff to develop personalized activity plans that meet individual needs and preferences.
- Maintain accurate records of participation, activity schedules, and resident progress; manage activity calendars effectively.
- Support residents’ emotional well-being by offering companionship, counseling on aging issues, and fostering a positive environment.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all activities and maintain a clean, organized activity space.
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or long-term care settings preferred.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, memory care techniques, and dementia-specific activities.
- Strong background in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care programs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Experience assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) such as bathing, dressing, or mobility support.
- Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs.
- Compassionate attitude towards aging issues counseling and working with individuals with disabilities.
- Relevant certifications in caregiving or social work are a plus; enthusiasm for creating engaging community experiences is essential. Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
