Café Assistant – David Weir Leisure Centre
To support the delivery of a high-quality café service by preparing and serving food and beverages, maintaining excellent cleanliness standards, and providing a professional and engaging customer experience at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Deliver friendly, efficient, and professional service to all customers
- Engage positively with customers and contribute to a welcoming café environment
- Take orders accurately and handle payments using the till system
- Resolve basic customer queries and escalate issues where necessary
Food & Beverage Service
- Prepare and serve food and drinks in line with company standards
- Ensure all food is presented to a high standard
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and allergen procedures
- Maintain knowledge of products, including ingredients and allergens
Standards & Cleanliness
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment at all times
- Carry out regular cleaning tasks, including equipment, surfaces, and customer areas
- Ensure all areas meet hygiene and presentation standards expected within a premium facility
Teamwork & Reliability
- Work collaboratively with the café team and wider centre staff
- Follow instructions from the Café Manager and supervisors
- Be punctual, reliable, and prepared to work flexibly to meet business needs
Stock & Operations Support
- Assist with stock rotation, replenishment, and basic stock checks
- Minimise waste by following correct procedures
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the café
Qualifications & Requirements
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene (desirable) or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience in a customer-facing or hospitality role (desirable but not essential)
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and cleanliness standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
