The Group Operations Director who oversees the strategic operational success and alignment of all regions.
What’s the purpose of the job?
The primary purpose of this role is to provide inspirational leadership to your team of Regional Managers, ensuring operational excellence, compliance with health & safety regulations, and the successful execution of our strategies. By fostering a culture of engagement and continuous improvement, you will drive employee satisfaction, member experience, and overall profitability across your assigned regions.
What will I be doing?
You will play a pivotal leadership role by:
Ensuring compliance: Guarantee that all regions meet health & safety requirements, food safety regulations, and adhere to financial policies and processes.
Leading a high-performing team: Inspire and manage a team of Regional Managers, embedding our vision, values, and strategy into daily operations.
Developing leadership: Select, mentor, and coach Regional Managers, enabling them to maximise their potential and deliver outstanding results.
Standardising excellence: Ensure Regional Managers implement and uphold our Ways of Working to maintain consistent operational standards.
Driving engagement: Create a culture of success, fostering high employee engagement, exceptional member experiences, and exceeding EBITDA targets across your regions.
Conducting operational reviews: Visit every region monthly, carrying out in-depth evaluations of health & safety compliance, team morale, member satisfaction, and facility presentation standards.
Overseeing capital investment: Take ownership of capital expenditure (capex) planning and execution, ensuring investments yield desired returns in collaboration with Regional Managers.
Strategic planning: Input into the development and oversee the execution of the business plan, ensuring alignment with company objectives and initiatives.
Monitoring competitors: Stay informed about competitor activity to identify opportunities and threats, maintaining a competitive edge.
Cross-functional collaboration: Network and influence within David Lloyd Clubs, supporting Club Support and other departments to deliver exceptional service to members and teams.
Supporting innovation: Provide constructive feedback and strategic input to functional heads for continuous improvement.
Crisis management: Serve as the escalation point during crises, managing issues effectively and escalating appropriately to the Executive Team or Board as necessary.
Leading key projects: Take ownership of operational and Club Support initiatives to drive success across the regions.
