Fitness & Operations Manager
We are looking for a personable, outgoing, professional Fitness and Operations Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be a self motivated, fitness fanatic, that has a passion for creating the best fitness experience for our members.
Opened in early 2022 - King Street Gym is a hybrid training experience that offers its members the community spirit of boutique gyms, as well as a traditional gym and pool facilities - all at an affordable price.

Job Purpose:
The Fitness & Operations Manager (FOM) is accountable for managing and consistently delivering the gym’s fitness products and facilities, while proactively managing the gym’s operational processes and standards.
The FOM is accountable for leading; coaching and managing the team to deliver the best possible fitness experience for our members, in a facility that is clean, safe, tidy, and conveys care, pride, and an attention to detail.
They have a responsibility in delivering the club’s mission statement by pioneering exceptional member service standards, to aid member retention and uphold the brand’s mission statement and reputation.
The Successful Candidate:
· Must be qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 2 Fitness Instructor (Level 3 Personal Training is preferred).
· Must be able to create a welcoming environment where’s fun and enjoyable for members to train.
· Needs the confidence and vibrant personality to create a sense of community that’ll engage members and support them in achieving their health and fitness goals.
· Must have experience of creating and delivering functional training; strength based; and cardio based group exercise classes.
· Must have the desire and ability to keep up to date on current exercise trends and implement these in group training sessions.
· Has the skills and ability to coach in-house Class Instructors on the fundamentals of creating and delivering a class that members want to participate in week-after-week.
· Needs to build great relationships with members to gain their loyalty.
· Should have experience of recruiting and managing Freelance Personal Trainers and Group Exercise Instructors.
· Will be required to work closely with the General Manager to construct a well balanced group exercise timetable.
· Must be able to manage and maximise group exercise occupancy figures.
· Must demonstrate the pride and desire to own the best gym floor and studio cleanliness and hygiene standards.
· Must be a health and fitness role model, setting a great example for members and colleagues.
· Would ideally have duty management experience in a fitness club or similar facility.
· Would ideally have experience of gym membership sales.
· Would ideally have experience of operating a pool plant room.
· Able to work any operational shift as the business requires.
Fitness Duties and Responsibilities:
· To work with the General Manager to construct and manage a successful group exercise timetable, which offers a strong variety of classes.
· To manage the performance of Freelance Group Instructors and take appropriate action where attendance is low.
· To create and deliver your own engaging group functional training sessions, within your contracted hours. All our Duty Managers contribute in delivering the group exercise classes that fall within their shift pattern.
· To be the ultimate champion and ‘the face’ of our fitness products. You will promote the group exercise timetable and signpost our members to sessions that will help them achieve their goals.
· To contribute to the gym’s revenue by sourcing and recruiting Rental Personal Trainers.
· To contribute to the gym’s revenue by sourcing and booking studio hire events.
· To deliver first-class facility tours to prospective members. By showing understanding of their needs and goals, you will be able to demonstrate how our facility is their obvious choice.
· To assist and support new members with an induction and continued guidance.
· To support the sales team with outreach activities; contacting prospective and new members; and contributing to the gym’s KPIs.
· To be a strong Duty Manager who leads the team to deliver exceptional customer service and facility standards for members.
· As a Duty Manager you must ensure a safe and clean facility, through regular review and taking the appropriate action when faced with issues.
· To be confident, demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
· To perform routine checks on all fitness equipment and report any issues to the General Manager and/or relevant contractor.
· To carry out routine pool plant checks, ensuring that all wet area facilities remain safe and operational.
Operational Duties and Responsibilities:
· Lead and manage the club team in delivering consistently high standards in cleaning; maintenance; and health and safety, across all areas.
· Affectively train, coach and manage the cleaning team to complete all scheduled and adhoc cleaning tasks.
· Review the daily cleaning schedule to ensure all tasks are complete and root cause any reasons for incomplete tasks.
· Demonstrate keen attention to detail when reviewing standards and resolving all adhoc issues, spotting potential issues before they escalate.
· Proactively manage the performance of underperforming colleagues, with the GM’s support.
· Review and maintain sufficient stock levels of retail items; cleaning products; pool plant products; and first aid supplies.
· Coach the team on daily plant room activities, such as pool water testing and reactive measures.
· Conduct daily and weekly scheduled preventive maintenance within the plant room and poolside areas, to ensure the quality and availability of all facilities.
· React swiftly to adhoc pool plant issues.
· Liaising with the General Manager, identify; report; and prioritise general maintenance issues, whilst considering the periodic maintenance budget.
· Implement and communicate the club’s risk assessments.
· Complete weekly health and safety tasks, including fire alarm tests; panic alarm tests and legionella checks.
· Complete monthly health and safety tasks, including fire door and extinguisher visual checks and legionella checks.
· Retain and archive safe and legal records; job sheets; service visits; and all other operational records and receipts.
· An effective Duty Manager during scheduled shifts. Refer to Duty Manager job description for a full list of accountabilities.
· Complete all reasonable requests of the General Manager in support of the business.

· Complete all reasonable requests of the GM and Assistant GM in support of the business.

· Salary: £14.25ph / £29,640 per year.
· 40-hour contract, over 5 days.
· 28-days annual leave.
· Must be fully flexible (able to work early and late shifts, and weekends).
· Club will operate on bank holidays (exc. Christmas).

Incentives:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to deliver personal training free of charge (rent free) outside of their contracted hours. This benefit is dependent on successful delivery of the F&O role. Must be Level 3 PT qualified and have own insurance to qualify.
