Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and highly motivated Food & Beverage Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Food & Beverage (F&B) department within a busy hotel environment. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced F&B professional to manage and inspire a talented team, ensuring a high standard of service and quality while meeting financial objectives and guest satisfaction targets.
As the Food & Beverage Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the F&B department, including operations, staff management, budget control, and guest relations. You will report directly to the General Manager (GM) and work closely with other hotel departments to maintain a seamless guest experience. Additionally, you will be required to perform duty management shifts to ensure smooth hotel operations, in line with the business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, motivate, and manage a team of F&B staff, including servers, bartenders, chefs, and kitchen staff.
- Conduct regular training sessions to ensure staff are well-versed in hospitality standards, product knowledge, and health & safety regulations.
- Oversee staffing schedules, recruitment, and performance management.
- Ensure a positive and productive working environment for all team members.
Operational Oversight:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of all F&B outlets within the hotel, ensuring high levels of service, quality, and efficiency.
- Supervise and coordinate food and beverage preparation, service, and presentation.
- Ensure the smooth running of banquets, room service, and in-house events.
- Ensure adherence to operational procedures, including inventory control, ordering, and health & safety standards.
Duty Management:
- Perform duty management shifts as required by the business, ensuring that all hotel operations run smoothly during your shift.
- Act as the point of contact for all staff and guests during duty management shifts.
- Ensure that the hotel meets its operational and guest service objectives during your shift, including handling guest complaints, overseeing operational procedures, and maintaining high standards of service.
Budget & Financial Management:
- Work with the GM to prepare and manage the department’s budget.
- Monitor food and beverage costs, control wastage, and optimize profit margins.
- Ensure that financial goals are met while maintaining exceptional guest service standards.
Guest Relations:
- Monitor guest feedback and ensure that any issues are addressed promptly and professionally.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve guest satisfaction and loyalty.
- Ensure that the F&B team provides personalized, attentive service to all hotel guests.
Compliance & Quality Control:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP, COSHH).
- Maintain high levels of cleanliness and quality control in all food and beverage operations.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure F&B standards are consistently met.
Menu Development & Innovation:
- Collaborate with the head Chef and the GM to create and update menus, ensuring they meet the tastes and preferences of hotel guests.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, recommending and introducing new products, concepts, and offerings to enhance the guest experience.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience (3+ years) in a food and beverage management role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
- Must have a personal licence
- Solid understanding of budgeting, financial controls, and cost management within the F&B sector.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene practices, and industry standards.
- A hands-on, proactive approach to managing operations.
- A passion for hospitality and delivering excellent service.
Desirable:
- Relevant hospitality or management qualifications (e.g., HND in Hospitality Management, Wine & Spirit Education Trust certification).
- Experience with hotel management software and POS systems.
- Knowledge of food and beverage trends, including dietary requirements and sustainability.
