General Manager – Engineering / Manufacturing
Location: Buckinghamshire
We’re supporting a well-established specialist engineering business in their search for a General Manager. This is a role with real ownership – you’ll be accountable for the day-to-day running of the company while steering its future growth.
It’s a mix of strategy and hands-on leadership. You’ll be shaping commercial plans, but you’ll also stay close to the operation, making sure the team, processes and customers all get the attention they need.

The Role
As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for:
- Setting direction and ensuring strong business performance.
- Driving commercial growth and developing new markets.
- Overseeing production, supply chain and service delivery.
- Leading and developing a skilled team, building a culture of accountability and improvement.
- Managing budgets, forecasting and delivering profitability.
- Keeping the customer at the centre, ensuring technical solutions meet their needs.
The Person
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience in a senior leadership role (General Manager, Operations Director or equivalent) in engineering, capital equipment or manufacturing.
- A balance of commercial and operational capability – able to grow sales while running an efficient operation.
- Experience in equipment, consumables or related technical products would be an advantage.
- A track record of developing teams and improving processes.
- Financial acumen – confident in managing budgets and driving profitability.
- A pragmatic, hands-on leadership style.
