Fitness Instructor
Location: Twickenham
Salary: £15 - £18 per hour
No gym rent & no unpaid hours required. We pay per hour for every hour worked, not just by class. So you have a guaranteed income from day one.
This role is based on paid shifts. You do not need to build up your own clients. But you can train your private clients free of charge outside your shifts.
Almost all of our classes are led by a team of two personal trainers, so you are not usually alone – other than the odd quiet shift or when the other trainers are unavailable. You have to therefore be a strong team player.
Your role is to help lead our HIIT and strength classes. As a class based gym, we run around 40 classes per week, all of which use the entire gym and equipment including barbells and sleds. Our classes are challenging and fun. We need trainers who have excellent communication and relationship building skills. We need trainers who have pride in their work and their workplace, with attention to detail and logical brains.
In addition; we need our coaches to be able to coach the main barbell lifts and other accessories to a good standard. But we don't need perfection - a willingness to learn is also of great importance to us.
We are looking for a fitness instructor/personal trainer on a self-employed basis starting with 5-8 regular hours per week. £15.00+ per hour (the more experience the higher the pay). There is plenty of opportunity to work extra shifts to cover holidays.
Shifts are typically between 3 and 5 hours, so a long commute is not viable- we need someone local. You can start in June, so we will be very proactive when we get strong applications.
A benefit of this role is that you can build your own private PT business and use the gym rent free outside of your contracted hours - so long as you work one or more paid shifts per week.
Your spoken English must be first class, with the ability to deliver coaching and demonstrations in a clear and concise manor to large groups of members.
Your role will include:
· Coaching warm-ups, cool-downs and exercise demonstrations
· Coaching form and encouraging/supporting members during workouts
· Selling Memberships to prospective members.
. Inspiring confidence and motivation to all class participants
· Some responsibility for opening and closing the gym at the start and end of the day
· Maintaining a safe and clean environment
· You must be able to work Monday evenings - 4:45pm-8:30pm. We can be flexible with other shifts.
Qualifications/experience:
· Level 2 Fitness Instructor qualification - required
· Level 3 Personal Trainer qualification – desired
· Experience teaching group exercise classes - required
Any other courses / qualifications are a bonus
The Shredquarters (Twickenham)
The Shredquarters is a class-based functional fitness gym franchise with 12 gyms in the UK. The Twickenham gym opened in July 2022 and now has over 200 members who attend our HIIT and strength classes and we have also been running children's classes since last summer. We are a mother and son managerial team and like very much the family style operation we have built.
We have developed a fantastic community where every member is welcomed by name and the trainers work with the members to improve their fitness and strength. We pride ourselves in the strong bonds we have with our members. We like all of our staff to consider being social with clients an important part of the role, greeting them with a smile when they walk in is just the start.
